Parnassus Second Solo Album Release by contrapuntal
Skepper’s much anticipated second solo album “Parnassus” is a collection of musical works, composed and recorded in situ at the ex-military headquarters of the French Embassy Tokyo during the “No Mans Land” exhibition, curated by Helene Kelmachter. Skepper’s second solo album release through his record label contrapuntal, the album is pressed on 12” cream-colored vinyl with accompanying CD insert. In their second collaboration, record jacket cover and CD graphic design directed and produced by Ito Keiji (UFG).
The Compositions and Live Performance
Described as “contemporary classical” and “cinematic”, the compositions on Parnassus are for harpsichord, violoncello, toy piano, music boxes, sewing machines and electronic loop machine. Skepper will also showcase new sound compositions from his recent tour of Australia and Europe. Using an intricate looping technique, Skepper samples sounds and melodies live, and architecturally constructs a multi-layered orchestral soundscape, composed and improvised.
On Site Sound Installation
Skepper creates in Contemporary Art Galleries, Foreign Embassies, Building Construction Sites, Private Residences, Forests, Streets and Lanes, Churches and Japanese Shrines. Performing in rare locations requires site-specific installation of sound system, electronic equipment, speakers and musical instruments.
To bring this vision into being, state of the art Japanese speaker manufacturer Taguchi, in cooperation with Whitelight and PA specialist Hiranya Access, ensure sound logistics are appropriate to the location. Harpsichord luthier Akira Kubota oversees the transport and care of the baroque musical instruments.
Konno Hachiman Shrine
over 900 years of history. Konno Hachiman Shrine, circa 1092, is located centrally in Shibuya. The Noh stage, which stands alongside the Shrine, will be transformed into Skepper’s site-specific performance art space.
Co-produced by A.R.T., the event will also feature a gramophone performance by Oui spinning SPs from pre WWII Japan.
With complimentary Brut Laurent-Perrier champagne by Laurent-Perrier.
Tickets should be purchased prior to the event, though a limited number will be available at the Shrine Entrance, unless sold out prior.

ニューアルバムリリースについて
スケッパー氏によるソロアルバム“Parnassus”はHelene Kelmachter主催により旧フランス大使館で開催された「ノーマンズランド展」にてミリタリーヘッドクォーター内で作曲され、録音されたとても実験的なアルバムです。スケッパー氏のレコードレーベルcontrapuntalからの第二リリースとして、白いアナログ盤を制作しました。アナログ盤とCDセット付きの作品としてリリースされ、今回もジャケットのアートワークは、伊藤桂司氏とのコラボにより創作されました。
作曲とライブ演奏
Parnassusは「コンテンポラリークラシカル」「映画音楽」と呼ばれ、チェンバロ、チェロ、トイピアノ、オルゴール、ミシンそして、エレクトロニックルーパーを用いた作曲です。２０１０年夏に、オーストラリアとヨーロッパのツアー中に作曲した新曲も披露いたします。オリジナルメロディーをループさせて、即興で構築していくユニークな作風で演奏します。
ライブインスタレーション
コンテンポラリーアートギャラリー、美術館、大使館、建設現場 、プライベートハウス 、森の中、道、教会と神社、とても特殊な場所を選んで、パフォーマンスアートスペースに創りこむことはスケッパー氏の世界感を表現する重要な要素の一つです。理想のパフォーマンススペースを実現するために、サウンドシステム、スピーカ、機材、楽器など、その場所にあったインスタレーションを創りました。
日本を代表するスピーカーメーカーTaguchiとともに、WhitelightとPAエンジニア藤田晃司(HIRANYA ACCESS)との協力により、空気感に合う音響設備を創造しました。 楽器の運搬、管理は、久保田彰チェンバロ工房の支援のもと行われました。
金王八幡宮
金王八幡宮は、９００年以上前に完成し、とても長い歴史があります。今回は能の舞台をパフォーマンスアートスペースとし、演奏いたします。
A.R.T.とcontrapuntalとの企画で、ゲストパフォーマーOuiは蓄音機で戦前のSPを披露します。
ローランペリエの Brut Laurent-Perrierというシャンパンをご用意させていただきました。
